Badrinath Temple History :-
Badrinath, also known as the Badrinarayan Temple, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu in the town of Badrinath, Uttarakhand, India. One of the four Char Dham and Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites is the temple and town. The temple is also one of the 108 Divya Desams—holy shrines for Vaishnavites—dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Badrinath. Because of the extreme weather conditions in the Himalayan region, it is only open for six months of the year (from the end of April to the beginning of November).
The temple is located in Chamoli district's Garhwal hill tracks, along the banks of the Alaknanda River, at an elevation of 3,133 m (10,279 ft) above mean sea level. It is one of India's most visited pilgrimage sites, with over 1 million visitors.
The temple's presiding deity is represented by a 1 m (3.3 ft) tall black stone statue of Vishnu in the form of Badrinarayan. Many Hindus consider the statue to be one of the eight swayam vyakta kshetras, or self-manifested statues of Vishnu.
The most important festival celebrated in the Badrinath Temple is Mata Murti Ka Mela, which commemorates the Ganges' descent on Mother Earth. Although Badrinath is in North India, the head priest, or Rawal, is traditionally a Nambudiri Brahmin from Kerala in South India. The temple was incorporated into the Uttar Pradesh state government Act No. 30/1948 as Act No. 16,1939, later known as the Shri Badarinath and Shri Kedarnath Mandir Act. The temples are administered by a committee appointed by the state government, which has seventeen members on its board.
The temple appears in ancient religious texts such as the Vishnu Purana and the Skanda Purana. It is praised in the Divya Prabandha, an early mediaeval Tamil canon of Azhwar saints from the sixth to ninth centuries AD.
